Exploring the Functions of Out of Control Sexual Behavior

Individuals presenting with driven, out of control sexual behavior may put their work, relationships and even their lives at risk. Working with these patients involves attending to the possible functions of these behaviors as they relate to patients' struggles with intimacy, attachment and sense of self. Clinical material will be presented that represents these issues and provides an opportunity to explore both the functions of the symptoms as well as treatment approaches. Additionally, ecological factors influencing these symptoms including advancements in technology and the use of the internet will be explored.

This presentation will be held on Long Island in February 2011 For the Nassau Chapter of the NYSSCSW. Please e-mail for more details. Michael Crocker, MA, LCSW will be co-presenting with Susan Malewicz, LCSW.
